April 25, 2009 marked the first instance of free items submitted in accordance with our 'Free internet offerings' article published on this page several weeks earlier.

The items could not be published due to our inability to verify their source. Items will not be accepted unless they are submitted in accordance with the following required information:

I did a Google search in early 2009 for the term 'free', which resulted in the following:

Free games - 59,000,000, free online Games - 111,000,000, free movies online - 32,800,000, free translation - 17,700,000, free music downloads - 66,600,000, free credit reports 24,200,000, free rider2 - 16,800,000, free music - 166,000,000 and free fonts - 6,700,000. As you can see these are staggering numbers; much more than anyone cares to even think about sifting through in order to find quality in all the free stuff that is being offered, so what we are doing at freetures is to remove the need for anyone to have to undertake the task of separating the valuables from the not so valuable.

Then I ran a similar search for the term 'value', and got the following results:

Valuable coins - 359,000, valuable pennies - 5,570,000, valuable stamps - 411,000, valuable baseball cards - 316,000, valuable beanie babies (remember the little cuties?) - 34,600, valuable dimes - 1,990,000, valuable books - 4,560,000, valuable wheat pennies - 43,200, valuable penny - 5,350,000 and valuable synonym - 1,400,000. Of course synonym is the odd term out for the purposes of this page, but it was listed so I list it for the sake of 'search authenticity' but it won't be repeated. In fact, the two words I'll be discussing for this page are 'free' and 'value' so there's no need to list any further search results either because the numbers thus far speak for themselves. The objective now is to really delve into those numbers and come up with the coveted shortcut for finding valuable items that are also free.

'Value'. The term means different things to different people, individually or as a group. 'Free' has the same or similar meaning to just about anyone who was ever the recipient of anything free; I'm sure those instances are many. People appreciate value in their possessions, and aspire to obtain and create more. Most people appreciate free things because they are not required to part with any of their valued possessions in order to obtain them. So the question then becomes whether or not the free item is also something of value.
