Affiliate Marketing Tips 07/31/2010
In today's work place where less workers are expected to do more of the work, many of us want to quit our jobs and be our own bosses. The idea of working for yourself is attractive to many people until they are faced with the reality of what it really entails. In fact the vast majority of working folks cannot get a business off the ground due to a lack of enough money, enough time to properly operate the business or the risk(s) involved. Starting even a small business (Mom & Pop) takes a fair amount of money and time. You need to buy or rent premises, purchase your inventory and equipment and pay a staff (the number of tasks a single individual can perform is obviously limited). You will also have additional expenses such as advertising, utilities, and business & payroll tax. Risk is the factor that prevents most would-be business owners from pursuing a business of their own. Even if you’re lucky enough to get the capital to start, nearly 90% of all small businesses fail in the first year. If yours is one of the lucky ones, you have to keep reinvesting your time and money to build up the business' reputation. As a rule, It takes most "brick and mortar" businesses anywhere from 5-7 years before any significant profit is seen. Most of us cannot wait that long, which is what makes affiliate marketing such an attractive offer. Affiliate marketing involves you, working as an affiliate for a merchant or company. There are literally thousands of Internet Marketing programs for you to choose from, but to get started, it is recommended by some experienced Affiliate Marketing professionals and "Gurus" that you choose something you are familiar with. This product or service may not be the hottest thing on the eCommerce market or make you a millionaire, but you will gain the confidence needed to tackle more lucrative products/services as well as a comfortable sincerity with something you know and believe in. This will also help when it comes to creating your website. Something with which you are familiar will allow you to be personal and creative. Trying to create a site around something you know little about is likely to become boring and tedious, which ultimately could lead to you quitting before you've had a good enough feel for the business of Affiliate Marketing. Working with something you are familiar with also helps you to establish a track record and experience in the program that you are working with. You can always expand at a later time when you are more familiar with how things work. Another good piece of advice is to watch the number of banners that you put up. A site full of banners will make the site look ugly and turn off potential buyers. Carefully place your banners and use them to accent your site. Stuffing it will not help. Remember, in the world of affiliate marketing there is no such thing as the perfect program. Some programs will be filled with varying testimonials, some of which will be great and others from fair to mediocre. You need to decide for yourself and not allow a few bad experiences to prevent you from reaching your objectives. Ultimately it is up to you, your passion and your desire to be an affiliate marketer that will propel you to success. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money working for yourself. The risk to you is minimal and there is very little start up cost to you such as a computer, internet connection and a website or blog - which you may already have. There are many great affiliate marketing programs out there and choosing the right one may seem like a daunting task when you first start out, but as long as you remember to stick to what you know, the dread will decipate. Find something you know about and have an interest in. Make your site attractive to others and resist the urge to fill it with banners. Finally, remember there is no perfect program. Some will have success where others have failed. It is all up to you. Just don’t give up. Popular Affiliate Marketing programs: Linkshare Clickbank Amazon.com Brian Tracy-BGS Add Comment |
